I am really on the move now!

So for the past couple of weeks, I have been working on perfecting my walking skills. For about a month, I have been able to stand up in the middle of the floor, but not go anywhere. On September 3rd (the day after my birthday), I took 2 steps for my first time ever. Over the past couple of weeks,I have taken as many as 12 steps in a row...maybe a little more than that.

When mommy picked me up from school today, my teacher told her that I was walking back and forth to my teachers. I have done some of that with Mommy and Daddy too. Mommy brought me home from school today and I have to admit, I was a little bit grumpy and tired. Then Daddy came home and I perked up some. That's when I decided to show them what I could do! I stood up in the kitchen (like I always do), then I walked all the way to the front door (about 40 Aidan steps). Mommy and Daddy clapped for me....they seemed very excited. So I just decided from then on that I would just walk around the house. I walked back and forth all over the place. When I would fall down, you know what I would do? Get up and start walking again. Walking is fun and I am very proud of myself. I can't wait to show all my friends at school tomorrow!!!

The only bad thing about walking is, you get boo boos. I already got one today! Can ya believe it? I fell down outside and scraped my knee...it didn't hurt and I didn't cry, but it was bleeding a little bit. I'm sure Mommy will take a picture of it tomorrow.

We went for a walk tonight, but I didn't want to walk, I wanted to ride my tricycle. When we got back I was too pooped to let Mommy video me walking around. I'm sure she'll break out the camera tomorrow!

Catch ya later guys! Pretty soon, you won't be able to catch me! :)

Say goodbye to my cute bear walk and hello to walking on 2 feet!

Sesame Street LIVE!

On Saturday I went with Mommy, Daddy, my friend Evan, and his parents to see Sesame Street Live. We got to ride the MARTA train down there! I don't actually watch Sesame Street, but I had a BLAST! I was so amazed at all the furry people on stage! My friend Evan LOVES Elmo, but he fell asleep during the show!!! Good thing he woke up after intermission, because Elmo came out and did Elmo's world! Mommy was excited because Mr. Noodle was there! He's a goofy guy who can't do anything right! The best part of the whole show was intermission! I got a $10 Elmo balloon and some cotton candy! YUMMY!!! I heard Mommy and Daddy saying that this balloon better last a long time....I'm not sure what the big deal is. :) Evan and I were so good! We sat the whole time and watched the show! I can't wait to go to my next concert!

Daddy was holding me up so I could see better!

I was amazed at all the lights and furry things.

WOW! I love balloons and this guy had A LOT of balloons!!! Mommy and Daddy bought me one...they were only $10! :)

It's The Count...apparently he likes counting and my Daddy likes him a lot!

There's Elmo!

It's Mr. Noodle...the goofy guy. I heard Mommy say that her friends at work would never believe she saw the real Mr. Noodle!!

Now here is someone I can relate to! The Cookie Monster...him and I like the SAME THING!

After the show, we went to a place called "Hard Rock Cafe." We almost went to Hooters...maybe next time! On our ride home on the MARTA train, I fell asleep. When I woke up, we were at home and Evan had come over to play at my house! Our parents were watching football and Evan and I had so much fun chasing each other around, giving each other high fives, and sitting on my Spider Man couch. Mommy and Evan's mommy Jennifer took us for a ride in my wagon! I've never had a friend in my wagon before! It was hot, but we had fun!

Mommy thought I would probably sleep really well...after the long day I had, but boy was she WRONG again! Hahahahahaha! Maybe I'll let her sleep all night soon. :)

Evan and I were having so much fun...can't you tell???
I'm showing Evan how we play spoons at my house...he was pretty good!

We had so much fun sitting on my Spiderman couch together! Mommy and Evan's mommy kept trying to get our picture...they thought we might look at that red ball for a picture...they were right! :)

All done with these pictures ladies...I'm off to find my spoons...c'mon Evan! AHHHHHHH!

What was I up to 1 year ago today?

On this date last year, I was at Scottish Rite in Atlanta having surgery for Laryngomalacia. When I was born at Northside Hospital, I was in the NICU for 5 days and the doctors were not sure what was wrong with me. When Mommy and Daddy took me home, they had strict orders to go straight to the Pediatrician. So I saw my doctor and he sent Mommy and Daddy immediately to the ENT doctor and said I might have something called Laryngomalacia.

My ENT did say that I have Laryngomalacia because he put a tube down my throat to see what it looked like in there. I didn't like that part...and neither did my Mommy! The ENT got me set up with an apnea monitor to make sure I did not stop breathing during the night and to make sure my heart rate stayed good. That monitor went off about 4-6 times per night....scary for Mommy and Daddy!

Basically, I have this flap above my vocal chords that was closed up too much. It is common for some babies to have this problem and usually they have some noisy breathing, but 10% of babies need surgery because it is too closed up. So lucky me, I was in that 10%...I keep hearing mommy say that I'm in that 10% for everything! :)

So on surgery day (September 18th, 2009), we had to be down at Scottish Rite at 6:00am! Nana and Grandma stayed up with me the night before because I was not allowed to have any milk after midnight and mommy couldn't bear seeing me without being able to feed me!

On surgery day, I had lots of people come to see me. Nana, Aunt Dana, Grandma, Grandpa, and Marilyn all came to see me and make sure I was doing well....I think they were also there to help Mommy and Daddy make it through!

I got a cute little surgery gown and I did so well on my surgery. My stay in the NICU was hard for Mommy and Daddy because at first I was hooked up to so many tubes and I was fighting not to have them on me. The nurses said I was very strong! It was also hard for Mommy because I was only 2 weeks old and she was right in the middle of learning how to nurse me and this totally disrupted that....I got used to feeding tubes and bottles at the hospital.

After 3 days, I got to go home! I remember it was SO rainy...in fact the day I came home was the start to the big Atlanta Flood in 2009..it rained for almost 10 days and everything got flooded.

Mommy and Daddy were glad to put my surgery behind them and were ready to move on to the fun parts of parenthood. Mommy and Daddy said this was going to be the end of my medical problems....little did they know! However, Mommy and Daddy did say they were so thankful that I was so strong. There were lots of tiny tiny babies in that NICU who had a lot of hurdles ahead of them. The nurses, doctors, and staff at Scottish Rite were AWESOME!!!!!!! :)

Here are some special pictures of my surgery!

Me sitting with Daddy in my surgery gown!

Mommy and I just before my surgery! I'll be ok mommy!!

Me in my bed in the NICU. Nothing can prepare a Mommy and Daddy to see this!

After surgery, I was asleep for most of that day. I had a lot of tubes hooked up to me, which Mommy and Daddy said it made it difficult to try to hold me and change my diapers!
Mommy and Daddy holding me! Mommy and Daddy slept at the hospital for 3 days in a community room.

The Zoo...again!

Mommy and Nana took me to the zoo last Wednesday morning! It was SO MUCH FUN....if you like sleeping animals that is! I tried to wake them up, but they were just too tired to do anything! I did have fun playing with the statues though! Maybe next time the animals will be more lively!

Hello little goat!
Why isn't this giraffe going anywhere?

This giraffe is much more exciting than the sleeping animals at this zoo!

Birthday Party!!!

On Saturday, September 4th, I had my 1st Birthday Party! It was a LOT of fun! It was a 2:00 and I had lots of family there. Nana came from Mississippi, Grandma came from Daytona, Aunt Dana, Uncle John, and my cousin Jessica came from Knoxville! It was my first time meeting my cousin Jessica! I had so much fun playing with her (I like her hair)!

So back to my party! First I sat in my high chair and they sang this song to me and put a cake in front of me. Mommy and Daddy blew out the candle...cool! Then they took me outside and just sat and watched me. I fed Mommy and Daddy some cake first...I just wanted them to check out the taste of this allergen-free cake before I dug my fingers into it!

Blow out the candle!!!!

Mmmmmm, eat the cake!

The icing was good...as for the cake, I think I'll wait a few years when I can have a REAL cake! Mommy's friend made my 2 cakes and they were SOOO neat! One cake was big and it was a Hat from the Cat in the Hat! My little cake (smash cake) was shaped like a Cat in the Hat book. It was so neat! Thanks Miss Kate for my 2 awesome cakes!

Check out my awesome cake!

I love the Cat in the Hat!!!
My smash cake! Not sure what is in it...since there is no milk, eggs, or wheat! I loved the icing!

After the cake, I got to open presents! WOW! I got a bowling set from Daddy, Legos from Mommy, Playhouse/tunnel from Grandma, tricycle/clothes from Nana, Wagon from Grandpa, clothes from Aunt MariCarmen, and an alphabet mat from Aunt Norma and Uncle Karl! Mommy says there was so much stuff that I was taking over the house! I loved all my presents....THANK YOU!

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!

Well I am officially ONE! I had a lot of fun today! I went to school this morning and wore my birthday/football shirt! Everyone liked my shirt. I did get a boo boo while playing on the playground. I was right in the middle of standing up (all by myself), when out of nowhere, some kid comes by with a lawn mower and runs me over! I got a boo boo on my elbow, both knees, and my lip. I'll be ok though, I'm a tough kid!

Then mommy picked me up and I think I overheard her telling Nana on the phone that she picked up my birthday presents today! YAY! My party is on Saturday and I can't wait!

Mommy also got me something new called a potty! I sat on it twice today! It has Elmo on it, so it's cool.

Then mommy took me to go meet daddy for my birthday dinner. Of course, I wanted to go to Red Robin! Lucky for me, Red was there on my special day! Our waiters came and sang Happy Birthday to me and Red came by my table 3 times!

After dinner, Mommy and Daddy took me to have Gelato! I had rasberry sorbet. YUMMY!

Great birthday...I'm ready for my party on Saturday!

Me in my birthday shirt that Mommy made for me! It was sports day at school today and mommy was really torn between having me wear a birthday shirt and wearing my Auburn jersey!!!! It was only about 6:30 a.m. in this picture, but boy was I excited about my big birthday day!!!

I was really tired after school today, so first I took a quick nap, before heading into Red Robin!

Me and Red...man I love that bird!

I'm watching Red makes his rounds. That bird is awesome!

Video from them singing to me and when my friend Red came over to see me! Some little girl kept coming over from another table and interrupting my Red fun! But I still got to play with him! Hopefully this video works...it was a different camera!

It's my Birthday Eve!

So Mommy was telling me that one year ago today, her and Daddy were driving to the hospital to have me! How exciting! Mommy and Daddy say that it's pretty amazing that a whole year has gone by!!! Here are a couple of pictures from the hospital when I was born!

My first photo with my mommy and daddy, just minutes after we met!

Mommy and Daddy coming to visit me in the NICU!

Me going home in my car seat! WOW! I look so small and I don't even ride in that kind of car seat anymore!

In the past week, I have been busy getting ready to turn ONE! I have started to stand up by myself, but I have not tried to take any steps. I'm waiting for my Birthday to do that! I also started in a new class at school. I am now in the First Steps class and I am having so much fun! I get to play, listen to music, read books, and play cars! Next time you hear from me, I'll be ONE!!!!!

Passed out on my Spiderman couch after a long day at school!
